WASHINGTON (June 8, 2023) — The Council for Innovation Promotion (C4IP) is pleased to announce that Peter Krug has joined as Director of Outreach and Development.
“C4IP is delighted to welcome a Washington policy veteran and expert in intellectual property to our ranks,” said Frank Cullen, executive director of C4IP. “Peter’s expertise will be invaluable in growing our organization and promoting strong and effective intellectual property rights.”
Krug has amassed over three decades of experience in policy issues, including intellectual property, from his time in the executive and legislative branches and the private sector. He recently served as senior legislative advisor to C4IP board co-chair Andrei Iancu during Iancu’s time as Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Prior to that, he served as a senior legislative assistant to Representatives Cliff Stearns (R-FL) and Robert Dornan (R-CA) and, in private practice, was a lead lobbyist on Capitol Hill overseeing Sirius’ acquisition of XM Satellite Radio. Krug received a Masters in International Affairs from the Patterson School of Diplomacy at the University of Kentucky.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue working on such a vital issue,” said Krug. “I look forward to championing the preservation of intellectual property rights and collaborating with esteemed industry leaders to do so.”
As C4IP’s Director of Outreach and Development, Krug will help expand C4IP membership, advance the C4IP agenda at the local level, advise the Council’s board and staff on operations, and provide strategic counsel on a wide range of activities and programs.
“Peter is a well-respected, highly-accomplished policy advocate and we’re certain that his addition to the C4IP team will help us bolster intellectual property rights,” said Dave Kappos, board co-chair of C4IP and former Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and USPTO Director under President Obama.
“I have seen Peter’s creative, persistent, and effective advocacy to foster consequential policy change firsthand, and look forward to collaborating with him once again,” said Andrei Iancu.
