WASHINGTON (January 21, 2024) — The Council for Innovation Promotion (C4IP) is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for its highly competitive summer internship program in Washington, D.C. Any student currently enrolled at an ABA-accredited law school is encouraged to apply.
Summer interns will work alongside some of America’s top intellectual property experts, including former judges and top-ranking executive branch officials, to advance policies that drive innovation, boost economic competitiveness, and improve lives everywhere.
Interns’ responsibilities will include: drafting policy proposals and issue briefs related to key emerging IP topics, preparing educational materials for press conferences and other events, responding to media requests, and attending congressional committee hearings and other high-level events.
“C4IP is excited to welcome its 2025 class of interns,” said Jamie Simpson, C4IP chief policy officer and counsel. “Any law student who wants to expand their knowledge of IP policy and learn from some of the brightest and most experienced individuals in the field should consider applying.”
Applicants should send a short cover letter, resume, writing sample, and copy of a current law school and college transcript to jamie@c4ip.org. C4IP will accept applications on a rolling basis and encourages law students to apply as soon as possible.
“C4IP believes that in today’s geopolitical landscape, strong IP rights and other pro-innovation policies are essential to maintaining U.S. economic and technological competitiveness,” said C4IP co-chairs and former USPTO directors David Kappos and Andrei Iancu. “For aspiring attorneys who believe in this vision and want practical experience working at the intersection of intellectual property law, business, policy, and public affairs, this internship is a fantastic way to jumpstart your legal career.”
